An expansion joint for gas pipelines consisting of a casing, a part a line pipe, a clamping element, seals, flanges and a bolt connector. The joint is distinctive in that its clamping element is constituted by spherical clamping rings (3) contacting each other in the middle area; a groove is formed in the contact area to hold the sealing (4) responsible for reciprocating motion, while the sealing (6) responsible for articulated motion is placed on the spherical surface of one of the rings (3) in an appropriately shaped recess in the flange (5).<IMAGE>
