IMMUNOASSAY FOR THE DETERMINATION OF ANTI-HIV ANTIBODIES IN HUMAN SAMPLES

An immunoassay for anti-HIV antibody in a sample comprising the steps of forming an HIV-antigen1:anti-HIV antibody:HIV-antigen2 immune complex and detecting the complex. The novel feature of the assay is that the ternary complex is formed in the presence of an effective amount of an inhibitor for the interaction between CD4 and an HIV envelope protein.
