<p>A slicing machine includes a slicing blade (1), a belt conveyor (4), a gripper (6) which engages the rear face of a block of product, and a gripper drive (7, 8) to drive it forwards to feed a block (5) of product towards the slicing blade (1) or move the gripper (6) rearwards away from the slicing blade (1). The belt conveyor (4) includes a driven roller (11) and the slicing machine includes means (14 to 24, Figs. 2 and 3) interconnecting the gripper drive (7, 8) and the driven roller (11) of the belt conveyor. In this way the movement of the belt conveyor (4) corresponds to that of the gripper and so that the belt conveyor can be driven both backwards and forwards in correspondence with the movement of the gripper (6). This is particularly useful in ensuring rapid withdrawal of the block of product (5) on interruption of slicing.</p> |
