Intensity measurement method for measuring acoustic characteristics of a baffle (80) immersed in a tank (90) in which a pair of acoustic detectors (60, 70) are placed facing a front wall of the baffle and spaced apart from each other, with respect to this wall, by a predetermined value DELTA x, and a source (50) for emitting an acoustic excitation signal having a predetermined frequency f, in the direction of the said front wall of the baffle, characterised in that it comprises the following steps: the complex pressures P1 = A1 exp( phi 1) and P2=A2 exp( phi 2) respectively obtained on each acoustic detector in response to the excitation signal, the modulus R of the complex reflection coefficient of the baffle is determined from the relationship: <IMAGE> where A2 1 = A2/A1; phi 2 1 = phi 2 - phi 1; k is the wave number of the excitation signal. <IMAGE>
