<p>PURPOSE:To improve the communication quality of various media by the buffer of the ATM multiplexing device by optimizing the delay time and discarding rate of the buffer of the ATM multiplexing device for various media which have different permissible conditions. CONSTITUTION:A cell group A which has a small permissible value of delay time from input to output and a large permissible discarding rate at the time of buffer convergence, e.g. a voice cell is inputted to the buffer 1. Once the voice cell is inputted to the buffer 1, a buffer output control means 3 outputs the cell stored in the buffer 1 preferentially, so the delay time is short. A cell group B which has a small permissible delay time value and a small discarding rate permissible value, e.g. cells of data, FAX, etc., are inputted to a buffer 2 which has larger buffer capacity than the buffer 1. The probability of the discarding of cells is small, so the optimum processing is carried out for the cell group B which has the large permissible delay time value and small permissible discarding rate value.</p> |
