PURPOSE:To obtain the title high-density sintered compact through calcining at lower temperatures by calcining a form of a mixture comprising aluminum nitride powder and a specified proportion of 3CaO.Al2O3. CONSTITUTION:The objective sintered compact can be obtained by calcining a form of a mixture comprising (A) aluminum nitride powder and (B) 3-20wt.% of 3CaO.Al2O3. The component B is the highest in the Ca content among all CaO-Al2O3 compounds and low in the melting point. Therefore, the proportion of the Al2O3 can be reduced, leading to improving the reactivity of the component B with the impurity oxygen in the aluminum nitride, and also promoting the production of a liquid phase of lower melting point. Thus, the objective high-density aluminum nitride sintered compact with high thermal conductivity can be produced at low cost. |
