A marking ball for aerial cables consists of two plastic or metal hemispherical shells, characterised in that it comprises means for locking onto the cable which are fixed in axial opposition to the said half-spheres, each composed of two facing and mirror-like portions in which there are provided: a tooth and, barycentrically opposite, a cavity capable of being engaged in the cavity and of receiving the tooth, which are present in the opposite portion in a mirror-like fashion; a housing created between this tooth and cavity in a transverse direction in which cavity at least one plane results which is inclined and in which plane a slide way is obtained for a runner introduced in such a way as to slide in the said housing and carrying an elastomeric seal which is closed by gripping onto the cable at the moment of the junction of the two portions constituting the locking means. In this way, a frustoconical shape is assigned to the housings accommodating the runners and in which the cable passes, a conformation which enables, by virtue of the possibility which the introduced runners have for moving, the possible slack between the cable and the seals to be compensated. <IMAGE>
