A brake pad (10) has a support plate (12) which bears a friction lining (14) and a radially outer edge (16) and a lining-free area (22) which is adjacent to the latter. A holding part (36) of a holding-down spring (34) which has at least one leg (38, 40) for support on a calliper (30) is mounted on the lining-free area (22). Likewise, a support body (46) of a sensor (48) is arranged on the lining-free area (22), which sensor can be connected to a warning device for indicating lining wear. The support body (46) is fitted radially onto the lining-free area (22) and, in relation to the longitudinal direction of the radially outer edge (16) of the support plate (12), is arranged next to the holding part (36) of the holding-down spring (34).
