The invention relates to a method for the production of a log wall 11 of elongated logs 2 arranged parallel to one another. Essential to the invention is the fact that the logs 1 are machined by boring a hollow cavity 10 in each of them, extending in a longitudinal direction from one end of the log to the other, and that the wall 11 is assembled partially or in its entirety from hollow logs 2 of essentially annular cross-section obtained in the abovementioned way. Especially suitable as raw material for the hollow logs 2 are logs 1 that have rotted from the inside and from which the rotted timber part has been removed in connection with boring of the hollow cavity 10. Using sound, undamaged logs, a narrower log than has hitherto been useable as construction material can be removed from the hollow cavity in the other direction. Side by side with hollow logs, solid timber logs can also be used in the wall, for example so that hollow logs and solid logs occur alternately in the longitudinal direction of the wall. In addition to the method, the invention relates to a log wall 11 that is formed from logs arranged on top of one another, which are at least in part hollow logs 2 that have been bored out. <IMAGE>
