A clutch plate (14) fixed to a shaft (22) moves in a working chamber (12) to which fluid is supplied from a reservoir (34). Two channels (26) between the chamber (12) and reservoir (34) are opened and closed by valve levers (40,42). One lever (40) is actuated by a bimetallic temp. sensor (44), and the other (42) by an additional electromagnet or pneumatic control and a plunger (52) extending coaxially through the shaft (22) and into the reservoir (34) for axial displacement by the excitation of the electromagnet (70). ADVANTAGE - Structure of same axial length improves actuation of second valve lever.
