<p>An organic polymer contng. chem. bound aromatic carbocyclic groups is reacted with an imido-alkylene compound of formula in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts alkylation catalyst. A polymer of formula is recovered, where R is a divalent, hydrocarbon, R' is hydrogen or a monovalent hydrocarbon (the hydrocarbons being optionally halogenated), Y is a halogen atom or a hydroxyl group and m has the value 1, 2, 3 or 4. The polymer is used as a moulding cmpd., varnish, adhesive. laminate etc.</p> |
