The double function rotor sail (1) drives a boat. It has wind vanes which alternately take energy from the wind, and release energy to the wind, to drive a ship. The vanes are fastened to a vertical rotary shaft, they may be rigid, and of optimum aerodynamic shape. The system may simultaniously drive a flywheel mass, and/or generator, and/or ship`s propellor, and/or additional rotor, etc. The vanes are fastened pivoted to telescopic arms, which are directed downwards at an angle.
