Chlorination of various metal compounds

Different kinds of metal compounds, e.g. ores or roasting charges containing non-ferrous oxides and sulphides are fed in at the top end of a long reactor and removed from the bottom after treatment. The chlorine gas is admitted at the top end in the direction of the material flow and/or at the bottom end in contra-flow. The excess chlorine, chlorides and other gases are removed or recycled from the middle of the reactor.
