<p>PURPOSE:To always change the remaining capacity of a battery even when the battery is used or charged by operating the present remaining capacity of the battery based on the measured values of the using time and the charging time of the battery and the remaining capacity values measured when the battery is charged and discharged respectively. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 3 checks the remaining capacity value of a battery 1 stored in a memory 9 with exchange of the battery 1 and then waits until the battery is fully charged if the checked capacity value of the battery is not effective. Then the capacity of the battery 1 is stored in the memory 9 when the battery 1 is fully charged. The capacity value of the battery 1 measured when the precedent charging or discharging operation is over is reed out of the memory 9, and the time elapsed is reed out of a timer 8. Then a fact whether the battery 1 is charged or discharged is checked based on the state of a switch 7. If the switch 7 is turned toward an external power supply 5, a battery charger 2 charges the battery 1. In other words, the present remaining capacity value is operated from the remaining capacity read out of the memory 9, the time elapsed of the timer 8, and the charging time-remaining capacity characteristic. Meanwhile the present remaining capacity value is operated from the discharging time-remaining capacity characteristic when the battery 1 is discharged. These operated remaining capacity values are shown on a display device 4.</p> |
