PURPOSE:To perform the inspection without using a standard pattern by extracting a signal caused by an image failure from a reading signal, and executing the inspection, based on a distance extending from a picture element corresponding to the extracted signal to the vicinity of a boundary of the image. CONSTITUTION:An output of an image input device 11 is supplied to a threshold processing circuit 13, and the circuit 15 executes binarization by using two thresholds set by a CPU 15, and outputs a signal corresponding to an outline and a defect of an image. An output of the circuit 13 is stored in a binary image memory 19 under the control of a memory control circuit 17, and the CPU 15 converts a binary image to a distance image, and detects a picture element of a printing blur from the distance image. The image signal converted to the distance image is stored in a distance image memory 23, and information related to the detected picture element of a printing blur is offered to a deciding output circuit 25, and outputted to the outside. Accordingly, according to this inspecting system, an inspection of an image of printing, etc., can be executed satisfactorily without preparing a standard pattern, and also, an area in which a defect of the image is generated can be detected in detail. |
