PURPOSE:To eliminate useless suspended time and operate efficiently by providing a printer equipped with control means for stopping temporarily a printing operation at above the number of specific print dots wherein a time from an OFF of a power source to a next ON is converted into the number of print dots, which is inputted to the control means. CONSTITUTION:During a printing operation, the number of ruled specific print dots is subtracted at every predetermined cycle from the number of print dots integrated by a counter 26 at a central processing unit 16. When the resulted number of dots becomes above a specific number, the printing operation is stopped temporarily. Since there is a proportional relationship between a period t elapsed from an OFF of a power source switch 31 and the number of print dots which can be converted into a temperature fall of a print head due to natural radiation per fixed time, the number of print dots Nt corresponding to the suspended time t is calculated at the central processing unit 16 when the power source switch 31 is turned on again. Then, the number of print dots Nt is subtracted from the final number of print dots Nx stored at the OFF of the power source switch 31 so as to make it a counter value. Thus, a period from turning on the power source again till a stop of the printing can be controlled accurately. |
