PURPOSE:To stably culture a microbial cell having a tryptophan synthase contained in a high activity in a high concentration by aerobically culturing a microorganism while retaining the pressure in a culturing can body to a specific value or below. CONSTITUTION:Tryptophan synthase producing bacterium [preferably Escherichia coli K-12 YK2009] (FERM P-8957), etc.] is aerobically cultured while the pressure in a culture can body to <=0.8kg/cm<2>, preferably 0.2-0.5kg/cm<2> gage pressure.
