PURPOSE:To prevent color turbidity and to enhance the whiteness reproducibility of an image receiving layer by providing a photothermal converting layer containing an infrared absorbing dye substantially colorless in the absorption of a visible part and a thermal transfer image receiving layer on an image receiving support. CONSTITUTION:An image receiving material for sublimation type thermal transfer or melting type thermal transfer is formed by providing a photothermal converting layer containing an infrared absorbing dye substantially colorless in the absorption of a visible part and a thermal transfer image receiving layer on an image receiving support. The infrared absorbing dye to be used is selected, for example, from compounds represented by general formulae I, II [wherein M is transition metal (e.g. Ni), n is an integer of 1-4 and R is C4H9, OC2H5 or N(C2H5)2]. Since photothermal conversion is performed in a layer colorless to a visible region, the color of transferred ink can be looked as it is and no color turbidity is generated. |
