<p>PURPOSE:To contrive the reduction of treating cost and effectively prevent scale from forming on the lower part of a tower by a method wherein, at the time of effecting simultaneously desulfurizing and oxidizing treatments of exhaust gases in a desulfurization tank, an inexpensive lightly burned magnesium or its slaking product is supplied as a desulfurizing material into the desulfurization tank by a specific means. CONSTITUTION:The treating liq. containing the desulfurizing agent consisting of lightly burned magnesium or its slaking product supplied from material tanks 2 and 3 is sent downward from above a desulfurization tower 1 in a shower like spray manner to bring this shower liq. 23a into contact with the sulfur oxide-containing gas G1 introduced from below. A treating liq. circulation system A adapted to pump up as the shower liq. 23a the liq. 23b which has dropped onto the lower part of the tower during the aforesaid gas-liquid contact to the upper part thereof is provided with a desulfurizing agent supply means consisting of a raw material tank 3, a valve V2 and a pH adjusting PHC, whereby the pH of the shower liq. 23a is made neutral or alkaline and the pH of the liq. 23b at the lower part of the tower is made lower in value toward the acidic side than that of the shower liq. 23a.</p> |
