PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of moving vector detection by weighting a moving vector basic data in response to a density gradient in the vicinity of a representative point. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal is fed to an input terminal 10. A representative point memory 18 extracts a representative point from a current field signal and a representative point of a preceding field is stored in a representative point memory 19. A subtractor 21 and an absolute value device 22 calculate correlation between two fields. An absolute difference passes through a weight switch 38 and integrated in an accumulating adder memory 24 by using an adder 23. On the other hand, a density gradient detection circuit 30 calculates density gradient independently in the horizontal and vertical directions. A moving vector detector 25 extracts a moving vector from a position at which an extreme value of the accumulation of the accumulating adder memory 24 is taken. Thus, the effect due to random noise is reduced and the accuracy of moving vector detection is improved. |
