SIMULTANEOUS TREATMENT OF SURPLUS LENGTH BY UNIT OF OPTICAL FIBER JUNCTURE

PURPOSE:To allow the rings in housing trays of many pieces of optical fiber tapes to be simultaneously, uniformly and smoothly flared by bundling the optical fiber tapes to a unit and integrally winding the unit to the ring formers of the housing trays to form the prescribed rings. CONSTITUTION:The tape unit 11 formed by bundling 10 pieces of the optical fiber cables 10 to one unit is fixed to a branch guide 12. This tape unit 11 is wound by prescribed turns on the right and left ring formers 14 of the opened housing trays 13 to form the many rings R. The free ends thereof are detained to the tentative stopping parts 15 of the trays 13. The housing trays are then successively stacked on each other and are fixed to prescribed positions. The detaining plates 16 having many holding parts for the reinforcing materials of the junctures are taken out of the trays 13 and one thereof is fixed to the holding section of a welding and connecting machine M. The treating operations to house the surplus lengths of the many fiber tapes are improved in this way.
