PURPOSE:To enable control of the temperature of a recording head to a desired range without mounting a temperature sensor by a method wherein energy fed to a heating means is controlled based on an environment temperature measured by a temperature measuring means and a time measured by a timer means. CONSTITUTION:A lapse time (a waiting time, a non-printing time) is decided from preceding printing and a heating quantity of a heater for temperature regulation is decided based on a present environment temperature heating quantity is decided based on temperature regulation before printing where heating is effected right before printing, a lapse time of printing, and a present environment temperature. The temperature of a recording head is controlled to a target temperature, to which delivery characteristics, e.g. printing density, is added, through execution of temperature regulation during printing wherein heating is effected during printing. A data table of parameter for control used during execution of temperature regulation before printing and temperature regulation during printing is stored in an ROM. In each table, 100% indicates charge of maximum energy and 0% indicates no charge of energy, and an energy charge amount is controlled by means of a time of energization to a heater for temperature regulation (heating pulse width). |
