PURPOSE:To enable starting in an optical direction, etc., of the single phase AC induction stepping motor by a method wherein plural pairs of the primary side cores having respectively the magentic pole area at the outside of a signal phase coil larger than the magnetic pole area at the inside, and position detecting members are provided. CONSTITUTION:The five primary side cores 12A-12E, for example, forming respectively pairs at an equal interval are provided interposing between them the secondary side conductors 11 being provided with four projections 14A-14D, for example, in the radial direction. The both ends of the respective primary side cores 12A-12E are wound respectively with single phase coils 20, 21, the magnetic pole area at the outside of respective single phase coils 20, 21 is made to be larger than the magnetic pole area at the inside, and the respective cores are made to have the prescribed breadth in contrast to the breadth of the projections 14A-14D of the secondary side conductors 11. The prescribed number of position detecting members 13 to detect the position of the secondary side conductors 11 are provided, and according to the position of the secondary side conductors 11, the prescribed single phase coils 20 or 21 of the primary side cores 12A-12E are excited to make the secondary side conductors 11 to start in the prescribed direction or to stop at the prescribed position. |
