In a horizontally slidable window, the slidable panel 1 is also capable of a pivotal movement transverse to the direction of sliding, about is lower edge and to this end the upper rail 2 of the panel is of open channel section and the upper or head rail 4 of the frame has a depending flange 3 which in the sliding or rest position of the panel, engages in the channel and is sealed against weather and dust &c. by sealing strips 5. To pivot the panel about its bottom edge, the panel is supported by vertically displaceable rods 9 on spaced trolleys such as 13, Fig. 10, which rods can be lowered from their normally operative position to release the panel rail 2 from the frame flange 3 whereupon the panel may be rotated about the bottom rail of frame 4. To lower the panel, rods located between the two spaced trolleys 13, are drawn together and slide relatively to the inclined sides 12 and allow the panel to descend against a biasing force, in which position the panel may be freed from the flange 3 and when the rods 9 are pulled together the panel returns to its former position but disposed outside the frame for rotation about the bottom rail or on a linear rib &c. on the roller housing 13. To limit the amount of the inclination of the panel a glider 8 is provided to slide in the head rail 3, Fig. 6 and is coupled to the panel by a stay 7 having an elongated slot 6 engaged by a pin &c. on the panel, and so the panel can slide in its inclined position. The panel may only be tilted in the end horizonal closed position. |
