The electric toothbrush according to the present invention comprises a bristle holder (2) fixed in a removable manner to a handle (1) at one of its ends. The bristle holder comprises an inner space in which are fixed, on the two opposite sides, a plurality of pairs of rotating elements (151, 152) which are driven by a threaded rod (150) in such a way as to turn in each case a bundle of bristles (154) towards the inside or towards the outside. The threaded rod (150) is driven in rotation by means of a drive device which is fixed inside the handle and which is activated by means of a control switch (16) mounted on this handle.
