The max. braking effect taken from the retarder (16) is controlled by at least the motor vehicle speed, and for this an electrical control circuit is used in which a control unit (26) is connected to the retarder. An engine speed indicator (36) provides an output signal for the control unit which, in turn, via an output signal to the retarder, controls the max. hydraulic pressure in the retarder. The control circuit can also contain a cardan shaft speed indicator (38) coupled to the control unit (26) and/or a coolant temp. indicator (40). |
