A safety binding for skis used in downhill skiing is provided for holding a ski boot on a ski and releasing same when placed under excessive stress. The binding (1) includes a seat (3), a retaining device (5) for the boot, and a return spring (10), as well as a linking device including a plunger (13) the head (16) of which is provided with two pressure tips (21 and 22). A set of two inclined engagement surfaces (23 and 24) provides the connection between the spring (10) and the jaw (5), each surface being located opposite a pressure tip. One pressure tip (21) projects further forward than the other (20) and a dynamic shock-absorbing device is inserted between said pressure tip (21) and the body (14) of the plunger (13).
