The present invention relates to the construction of stairways by using a single type of prefabricated step. This single step profile permits the formation of stairways having different heights using their flight depth. The steps prefabricated using this same profile make it possible, on site, to exactly adjust the height and depth of the stairway flights by simple sliding of the step profiles on one another. The invention is intended for the construction of stairways for all types of buildings where these structural parts are necessary. The profile, with its possibility of producing all the conventional stairways, makes it possible, on site, to provide identical steps and assemble them by simple means. <IMAGE>
