PURPOSE:To report the contents in accordance with a state, such as to discriminate the expiration of the term of validity of a battery or a fixed fault, etc., by providing an interrupting signal NRTR, detecting a data error basing on said signal, and executing a read-out test of a buffer memory. CONSTITUTION:An interrupting signal NRTR is a signal for informing a fact that a device has become an available state, to a higher rank device from an I/O of a magnetic disk device, etc. In case of setting a buffer memory 4 to an initialized state, a magnetic disk control device 1 or 2 detects the signal NRTR from a magnetic disk device 5 at first, and executes a read-out check of the memory 4. Subsequently, the device 1 or 2 writes ''0'' in all areas of the memory 4. In case of ''0'' has been written normally, ''0'' is sent out to a read-out instruction, and it is ended normally. When the memory cannot be initialized normally due to a fixed fault, it is reported that a data of the memory 4 is abnormal. In this way, by executing a read-out test of the memory 4 basing on the signal NRTR, the contents can be reported in accordance with its state. |
