Artificial skin consists of supporting polymer film and a fibrous material of a bio-absorbable substance fixed to surface of the film. The fibrous material, pref. a knitted prod. or a fabric of a fibre, is treated chemically to depress its strength. Polymers for the supporting film include e.g. natural rubber, silicone rubber, urethane rubber, fluorine rubber, polyethylene, polystyrene, PVC, PVA, and polyesters. Bioabsorbable substance include poly glycolic acid, polydioxiane, polycaprolactone, glycolic-lactic copolymer, collagen, polyamino acids, polyactic acid, chitin, chitosan, etc..
