The suction mouthpiece includes a rotated brush roller (2), with a brake element (4) acting on the latter or its associated drive and released from the braking position upon being brought into contact with a surface to be cleaned. Pref., the brake element comprises at least one braking shoe which is spring-biased into contact with a braking surface (3) of the brush roller (2) and which is released from the braking position via a release element (10) projecting beyond the plane of the mouthpiece brought into contact with the cleaned surface. ADVANTAGE - Prevents rotation of brush until mouthpiece is in cleaning position.
