A rotary lawn mower has a blade (14) with a central hub which is fixed to a vertical rotating spindle (26). The blade (14) comprises a radial wing on either side of the hub, which are sharpened along opposite long edges. The blade (14) revolves inside a hooded casing (12) with sides extending below the rotational plane of the blade (14). Towards the ends of the blade wings the back edges are turned up (30,30') above the plane of the blade (14). USE/ADVANTAGE - Satisfactorily cuts long and damp grass.
