PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of crosstalk and enhance transmission efficiency without changing the arrangement of the connection terminal side portions of contacts at all by separating pairs of signal terminals and earth terminals into upper and lower stages, and reversing adjacent pairs of signal terminals and earth terminals with respect to each other. CONSTITUTION:A group of contacts are arranged in the order of G1, S1, C2, S2,... G8,S8, G9, S9 when seen from a connecting terminal portion C and the arrangement of connection terminals is not different from conventional ones. The contacts 3 of a connector are however arranged on the contact portion C side in such a way that signal contact portions (S1...S9) and earth contact portions (G1...G9) made in pairs are divided into upper and lower stages opposite to each other. Adjacent pairs are arranged in such a way that their upper and lower stages are reversed with respect to each other; that is, the contacts are arranged on the upper stage in the order of S1, G2, S3, G4,...G8, S9 and arranged in the order of G1, S2, G3, S4,...S8, G9 on the lower stage. By adopting this contact arrangement the amount of crosstalk is reduced by more than 5(dB) over the whole area of Rise time (ns) as compared to conventional ones, thus offering excellent transmission characteristics.
