The frame for a yoke lamination packet uses two pressure rings at each end of the lamination packet joined together by longitudinal rails. At least one end ring has a series of 4 planar mantle sections (4 A') fitted together at right angles to one another via angled linear bridging sections (4 E') with all the weld points concealed. The outer surface of each bridging section provides a mounting surface for a rotor bearing and plate. Pref. the bridging sections extend at 45 degrees between the adjacent mantle sections.
