PURPOSE:To efficiently take out electric energy at high density without any nonfunctional active material existing at the outermost peripheral portion of a roll of battery members by making the inner of two sheets of metallic foil longer by at least one turn of the outer periphery of the roll, the two sheets constituting an electrode which is located at the outermost peripheral portion when the roll is formed. CONSTITUTION:When positive electrode 5 and negative electrode 6 are wound into a roll with separators 7 interposed between the positive and negative electrodes 5, 6, then negative electrode 6 is located at the outermost peripheral portion of the roll outside positive electrode 5. Therefore an electrode portion 6A which is the inner one in negative electrode 6 and which consists of metallic foil 2 and an active material 4 is made rather larger than an outer electrode portion 6B by approximately one turn of the outer periphery of the roll. When the electrodes are wouned into a rolled battery member 12, that portion of the inner negative electrode portion 6A which is made longer than the outer negative electrode portion 6B is wound by one turn onto the outside of the outer peripheral portion of the member 12 and the negative electrode active material 4 does not exist outside this portion. The rolled battery member 12 has separators 7 further disposed outside it and is stored in a cylindrical box 13. |
