PACKAGE FOR CUT LETTUCE AND PACKAGING USING THE SAME PACKAGE

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject package capable of removing excessive water of cut lettuce, inhibiting growth of various germs and preventing browning and generation of malodor during storage by using a specified water-absorbable sheet and a heat-sealable film having a suitable oxygen passability. CONSTITUTION:An objective bag-shaped package composed of a water-- absorbable sheet 3 to be located at the lower part of cut lettuce 1 and a suitably oxygen-passable film for covering the cut lettuce 1 outside the water-absorbable sheet 3. The above-mentioned water-absorbable sheet 3 is composed of a water- permeable sheet to be located on the cut lettuce 1 side, a water-permeable sheet or a water-impermeable sheet and a high water-absorbable resin 9 sandwiched between both of the sheets. In addition, the above-mentioned water- permeable sheet is preferably made of paper 7 and/or non-woven fabric 6.
