The terminal box (1) contains a capacitor (8) which is coupled to the machine stator winding at least one side wall of the terminal box (1) providing a mounting (13) for supporting the capacitor (8) on its inside face. Pref. the support mounting (13) for the capacitor (8) is attached to a slide which can move along a slot in the sidewall of the terminal box (1) to allow capacitors of differing size to be accommodated. The mounting (3) pref. comprises a fixing tongue fitting into a corresponding pocket (11) at one end of the capacitor (8).
