The door closure for a domestic electrical appliance has a spring-loaded element which moves the door into its open position when the catch mechanism (10) is released, upon operation of a door opening button. The spring-loaded element holds the catch element (15) in the open position against the force of a closure spring (16) and is acted on by the catch plate (5) attached to the door (1) when the latter is closed to operate a switch in the main current circuit of the appliance. ADVANTAGE - Prevents operation of machine unless door is correctly closed.
