PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain the title substance in a large amount by making a host microorganism produce a peptide or a protein as a fusion protein according to a genetic recombination method and then reacting the aforementioned fusion protein with an enzyme having strong specificity. CONSTITUTION:A fusion protein expressed by the formula A-B-C or C-B-A [A is carrier; B is enzymically cleavable dipeptide of X1-X2 (X1 is Lys, Arc or Pro bound to the C-terminal of A; X2 is Lys or Arg bound to the N-terminal of C); C is the objective peptide or protein] is produced with a host microorganism according to a genetic recombination method and then treated with a protease capable of specifically recognizing the dipeptide (B) and specifically hydrolyzing the peptide bonds of the dipeptide. Furthermore, vasoactive.intestinal.polypeptides (VIP), etc., are preferred as the peptide of protein (C). |
