The pallet (3) of a conventional shape is covered with a base (31), in where centre are two upright flaps (32) to form a spine over which the box (2) is secured. The box is fitted to the pallet with the bottom flaps open with two flaps split to straddle the spine. The flaps are gripped under the spine flaps when the latter are folded flat. The spine flaps are held in the upright position by pressed tags in the top edge. Thus the flaps are safely foldable over the box flaps. The spine flaps are folded over at a set spacing over the surface of the pallet.
