The wiper arm is secured to a shaft protruding from a bearing whose casing carries a tongue (20) for vibration damping attachment to the bodywork. An annular or cylindrical elastomeric washer (42) is fitted into a hole (45) through the tongue (20) and penetrated by a fixing screw (50) which is held captive by a PVC or rigid plastic disc (60) with thickness about half of the pitch of the screw thread (53). A notch (57) scrapes varnish from the corresp. threaded bore. ADVANTAGE - Installation time and cost reduced by preassembled drive unit with captive fixing screw.
