PURPOSE:To obtain an arbitrary pattern having a desired hue by forming a masking layer to a residual surface part excepting an objective pattern part and subsequently thermally spraying a metal or an alloy thereto to form conductive layer and applying electroless or electrolytic plating to form a plating layer thereon. CONSTITUTION:A base material l composed of a natural stone or wood is prepared and a masking layer 2 is formed to the part excepting the objective pattern part 3 of the base material 1. As a masking agent, any paint capable of withstanding the heat at the time of the thermal spraying a metal or an alloy may be used. Next, a conductive metal or allay is thermally sprayed to the surface of the base material 1 exposed at the part of the pattern 3 to form a conductive layer 4. The masking layer 2 is removed from the surface of the base material 1 and, subsequently, when the conductive layer 4 is an entirely continuous pattern, electrolytic plating is applied and, when said layer 4 is a discontinuous pattern, electroless plating is applied to form a desired metal plating layer 5 on the conductive layer 4. |
