PURPOSE:To prevent the breakage of a solid image pick-up element due to the overvoltage generated in the released state of a scope by installing a protecting device which prevents the breakage of the solid image pick-up element due to the overvoltage by setting the electric potential of each part of the scope to the equal electric potential. CONSTITUTION:A scope 10a far an electronic endoscope is equipped with a CCD 3 as solid image pick-up element arranged at the top edge, connector 12 for the electric connection with a body 2, and protecting circuit 20 connected between the connector 12 and a relaying circuit 5 arranged in an operation part 11. Further, the protecting circuit 20 prevents the breakage of the CCD 3, relaying circuit 5, etc., which is based on the electric discharge of the static electricity generated from the CCD 3, by setting the electric potential of each part of the scope 10a to the equal electric potential by a proper means. Accordingly, even if the static electricity which electrifies the scope 10a is discharged, each part of the scope 10a is set to the equal electric potential by the protecting circuit 20, and the CCD 3, relaying circuit 5, driving circuit, etc., protected, and the breakage of the element can be prevented.
