PURPOSE:To enable viscosity of muddy water to be measured automatically by providing a pressure-measuring equipment at either two locations of a mud-transport pipe or a mud-discharge pipe and then providing a viscosity-measuring means for calculating viscosity of muddy water based on pressure difference of the measured muddy water pressure. CONSTITUTION:A mud-transport pipe 16 and a mud-discharge pipe 18 are connected to a shield chamber 14 and muddy water which is sent from a muddy water treatment plant 30 which is provided outside tunnel premises through water-transmission pumps P1 and P2 is supplied to the chamber 14 through the mud-transport pipe 16. Then, excavation of a face 22 is performed by a rotary cutter 20, the excavated earth and sand are taken into the chamber 14, it is stirred with muddy water which functions as a stabilization liquid within the chamber 14 and flows to the mud-transport pipe 18 as a slurry muddy water, and then it is sent to a plant 30 through mud-discharge pumps P3 and P4. Two pressure-measuring equipment 40a and 40b are provided within the mud-transport pipes 16 and pressures Pa and Pb of muddy water are measured at two points of the mud-transport pipe 16. Then, viscosity of muddy water is automatically calculated from a pressure difference of the pressures Pa and Pb, a flow rate of muddy water, and an inner diameter of the pipe 16 etc. |
