<p>A slant plate type compressor (10) having a capacity or displacement adjusting mechanism includes a housing (20) for a cylinder block (21) provided with a plurality of cylinders (70) and a crank chair (22). A piston (71) is slidably fitted within each of the cylinders (70) and is reciprocated by a drive mechanism which includes a slant plate (60) having a surface with an adjustable incline angle. The incline angle of the slant plate (60), and thus the capacity of the compressor, is controlled according to the pressure differential between the crank chamber (22) and a suction chamber (241). The pressure in either the crank chamber (22) or the suction chamber (241) is controlled by an externally controlled valve mechanism (400) which is disposed in a passageway linking the crank chamber (22) and the suction chamber (241). An internally controlled saftey valve device (485) prevents an abnormal pressure differential between the crank (22) and suction (241) chambers. The internally controlled safety valve device (485) is provided within the externally controlled valve mechanism (400) thereby obtaining an easily manufactured slant plate type compressor having a capacity adjusting mechanism with a safety valve device. <IMAGE></p> |
