NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by the formula (R1 to R3 are H, alkyl or acyl and at least one thereof is H; R4 is 10-24C straight-chain or branched alkyl). USE:Useful as antioxidants, foods and drinks, medicines, etc. PREPARATION:A Phaffia extract oil from Phaffia rhodozyma which is a yeast capable of producing astaxanthin is dissolved in hexane and methanol containing NaOH is added thereto. The resultant mixture is then vigorously stirred and allowed to stand. The objective compound expressed by the formula is separated and obtained from the prepared hexane layer through several steps. |
