PURPOSE:To produce a polyene-based antibiotic substance in high yield under conditions of a high substrate concentration by irradiating an aqueous solution containing at least one of urea, a derivative thereof, an acid amide and a derivative thereof in a cis type polyene-based antibiotic substance with ultraviolet light. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution containing at least one of urea, a derivative thereof, an acid amide and a derivative thereof in a cis type polyene-based antibiotic substance is irradiated with light containing ultraviolet light to produce a trans type polyene-based antibiotic substance. Partricin B, methyl ester thereof, etc., are cited as the cis type polyene-based antibiotic substance and the aforementioned antibiotic substances may be a purified product or further in a state of crude products, etc., containing impurities. A high-pressure mercury lamp (main wavelength; about 365 and 430nm, manufactured by Arion Co., Ltd.) is used as a light source for industrial production and an internal irradiation type reactor is preferably employed to carry out the photochemical reaction. The trans type compound is purified by using reverse phase chromatography which is a normal method for separating and purifying the polyene-based antibiotic substance. |
