NEW MATERIAL:A propargyl ether compound of brominated phenols expressed by formula I [R is H or -CH2-CidenticalCH, provided that the ratio (H/-CH2CidenticalCH) is 0-3; R1 is H, CH3, etc.; R2 is H, CF3, etc.; n is 0-30; m and m' are the average values of the numbers of bromine atoms bound to the respective benzene rings; m is 0-4; m' is 0-3 and the average value (t) of the total number of bromine atoms expressed by formula II is 0-2]. USE:A component of thermosetting resin compositions for flame-retardant low- dielectric constant laminated boards, capable of providing the aforementioned compositions, good in operating efficiency and curability and excellent in heat, moisture resistance and toughness. PREPARATION:Brominated phenols expressed by formula I are reacted with propargyl chloride or bromide in the presence of potassium hydroxide in a mixed solvent of water/acetone. |
