The machine has a travelling chassis with a collector mechanism at the forward end. A conveyor leads from the mechanism to a filling station with support for a transport crate, alongside which is a lifting mechanism for the filled crate transferred to it by a thruster. The mechanism assemblies sets of crates for replacing stacks of filled ones with empty ones. The lifting mechanism forms sucessive filled crates (11) into a stack, the latter being transferred by a further mechanism to the assembly mechanism.
