PURPOSE:To prevent an electrode from corrosion and provide stable performance by furnishing a water repellent processing part at the inlet and outlet of a reaction gas flow-path or over the whole surrounding of a porous electrode, and thereby preventing leakage of electrolyte frown the electrode peripheries. CONSTITUTION:A water repellent processing part 20 is formed at the inlet and outlet to/from a fuel gas flow-path 13 of an anode 7 which is a porous electrode. The other parts undergo a hydrophilic treatment after this water repellent processing. The water repellent processing is performed through procedure such as impregnating a certain part of the porous electrode with fluoric resin followed by a heat treatment at a certain temp. Because the fuel gas flow-path 13 is provided with an edge seal part 2 formed by impregnation of the electrode end part with electrolyte, no water repellent processing is applied to this part. A cathode electrode undergoes also a water repellent processing in the same fashion. |
